Welcome to the Climb Torridon website and blog. Climb Torridon has been an idea of ours for a while now. We’re pleased to say that we’re all up and running ready to help you enjoy this fantastic area.

The Beginning

I first saw the area back in 2011 when I travelled here with some friends from my university mountaineering club. I still remember the excitement at being in this remote beautiful location, surrounded by massive mountains coming straight from the sea. Scarlet first visited the area as part of the Cape Wrath Trail the same year as me, then later we visited and explored it together. Like me the combination of sea lochs, Highland communities and towering mountains had her hooked.

In 2015 I moved to the area spending 10 months living, working and getting to know it. I really enjoyed this spell and from then on Torridon always felt like home. In 2018 our daughter, Willow, was born and by 2019 Scarlet and I managed to move to the local area with the hope of running a guiding business alongside the freelance mountaineering I already did on Skye, in Torridon and in the North West Highlands. Unfortunately as we all know, plans had to be put on hold for a while as the world paused to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic.

With the pandemic now starting to show signs of finishing, vaccines well underway and talk of releasing lockdowns ready for summer tourism to re-start we’ve setup our business ready to help you get the most out of visiting.

What We Offer and Why Us?

Climb Torridon has been setup to help people discover this wonderful area in a safe, sustainable way. Both Scarlet and I are passionate about the outdoors from walks through to technical climbs. We both hold recognised qualifications so you know you’re in safe hands; Scarlet being a Mountain Leader, while I’m a Summer and Winter Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor. We offer guided experiences and instructional courses.

Guided experiences are aimed at helping you get the most out of your visit. We can show hidden gems as well as popular classic routes and give you an understanding of the local wildlife, history and geology of the area. We offer this on a private basis so your trip is your own and tailored around your needs.

Instructional Courses are designed to give you the skills to become an independent hill walker, mountaineer, rock or winter climber depending on your goals. This area has fantastic terrain to teach you on away from the crowds of other, further south, venues. This gives us the time to concentrate on your needs without distractions.

With over 20 years of experience in this area between us and a continued passion to share our knowledge, your visit to this area is in safe hands when you book with us.

The Blog

As parents and keen outdoor enthusiasts we can understand that time and money are precious. Not everyone will be able to afford the time or the money to enjoy one of our guided experiences or instructional courses. We understand you’ll want to plan before your trip and brush up on skills ready to make the most of the opportunity either with us or independently. We want to provide something to help you with this so we’ve setup this blog to, overtime, provide as much information as we can. Our topics will range from all things to do with Torridon, Skye and the North West Highlands to more general mountaineering, rock and winter climbing techniques. We want this to be a resource for everyone so if you have a particular topic you’d like us to cover then please do get in touch.

We hope to see you soon,

Ollie
